Hewn does not collect your data. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server. The app makes no network requests at all, which is a stronger statement than a promise not to misuse data — there is nowhere for it to go.
Time spent in Hewn itself, on your home screen, and in the system interface is excluded from your screen-time total.
Nowhere. All of it is stored on your own phone, in the app’s private storage, and never leaves the device. There is no backend service to send it to, so there is nothing for anyone to read, sell, lose, or be compelled to hand over.
Hewn’s home-screen widgets read that same local storage on your device. Nothing is transmitted to display them.
Moving to a new phone is done by showing a QR code on one device and reading it with the other. The information passes directly between your two phones, through the camera, and touches no network.
Notifications are composed and scheduled by the app on your own phone. They are not push messages, nothing passes through a server, and their contents never leave the device.
If you buy Hewn Plus, the purchase is handled entirely by Google or Apple. They tell Hewn only whether you own it. Hewn never receives your name, card details, or billing address. Those transactions are covered by their policies: Google · Apple
Independently of Hewn, Google Play and the App Store collect their own information about installs, updates, and crashes, under their own privacy policies linked above. That happens at the platform level for every app and is outside Hewn’s control.
Uninstalling Hewn removes everything it has stored. You can also clear it without uninstalling, from Settings → Apps → Hewn → Storage → Clear storage on Android. Revoking Usage Access in system settings stops any further measurement immediately.
Because nothing is ever transmitted, there is no copy anywhere else to delete.
Hewn is intended for adults and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and similar laws you have rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data held about you by a company. Hewn holds none and transmits none, so there is no request to make and no records to produce. Your data is in your hands, on your phone.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Should Hewn ever begin collecting anything — there is no plan to — it will be stated plainly here and asked for inside the app before it happens.
